About Us

Kia ora and welcome to New Zealand! This online hotel and tour booking portal is proudly owned and operated by me, Raumati Wilkaire, Troy Dyer, and the rest of our team at New Zealand Hotel Link.

After 11 years in the tourism industry, my partner Troy Dyer and I decided to finally move back home to New Zealand this year to follow our dreams of establishing our own business and getting more involved in growing New Zealand as a tourism destination.  We noticed a gap in the market for an online portal that captures the soul of New Zealand and enables international travellers to experience unique product from a local's point of view. New Zealand has the most amazing and diverse scenery, travellers worldwide are often astounded at the beauty and pure untouched nature. However something you can’t see in the usual picture is the local New Zealander—the genuine friendliness and helpfulness, so much so that if you’re travelling by yourself and get chatting with a local, you may end up finding yourself invited home for tea (dinner).

altTroy and I have been living overseas for some times but there's nothing like home. New Zealand is a small country, everyone seems to know each other or have some connection, and everyone has a story. Even me, my ancestors (and I can trace a direct line) were the signatories of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840, which is the document that made NZ a British colony. My tribe Nga Puhi is the largest in NZ and in history were the fiercest warriors and last known cannibals in NZ.

When we're not working, we enjoy travelling and discovering new things. Troy is also a sports enthusiast. We like to lead a semi-active life and on a weekend could be found playing golf or tennis and definitely watching rugby or enjoying any of the myriad of tours, activities and new experiences in our local area. Exploring and going on 'adventures', even if that adventure is just travelling to the next town or trying out a new activity.

Raumati (which means "summer" in Maori) grew up in the Bay of Islands which is one of the North Island's most scenic tourist spots. She was surrounded by tourism from an early age and has always loved showing off the beautiful homeland to visitors and experiencing it afresh through their eyes.  Troy is a southern man from Dunedin in the South Island. He genuinely cares that visitors to New Zealand have a good time and enjoys passing on 'insider' local tips about things to see and do.

Being involved in tourism to us, is about making dreams come true... and you can't find a better job than that.

Sustainable Tourism

Sustainable Tourism in New Zealand for us means preserving the natural beauty for future generations and ensuring that we protect our natural environment from pollution. This also includes limiting commercial tourism to allow visitors to receive an authentic experience and that commercial growth doesn't take away from the reason tourists were attracted to a location in the first place.

There is also the cultural aspect. Maori Tourism is quite recent within New Zealand so it is great to see communities and the indigenous culture showcasing something unique for international visitors, something that we take for granted as everyday life. However it is important to find the balance between delivering an experience that is up to international standards and offering an authentic local experience. This is something we hope to guide and assist with in product development. we applaud the values of whl.travel and assistance that’s provided to small-medium indigenous tourism companies. The advantage of a wide network of like-minded businesses to bounce ideas off and the support and assistance of technical experts and IT gurus is second to none.

New Zealand's North Island is stunningly beautiful, full of energy and flavour, friendly and welcoming—a place that will capture your heart and soul. Book your North Island hotels and tours with us today for an unforgettable holiday in New Zealand.
